I'm Fine

"I'm fine" you say but who can know,
What's really going on below.
Are you happy? Are you sad?
Are you joyful? Are you mad?

You say you're fine, what does that mean,
Good? Bad? Or something in between.
I cannot tell what's behind your eyes,
When you hide it with the words "I'm fine"

You tell me not to worry much,
"I'm fine" you say in such a rush,
That my heart goes wild with worry for you,
What can you mean. Are you glad or blue.

"I'm fine" those words now cut me deep,
"I'm fine" and now I cannot sleep
"I'm fine" I worry and I dread.
"I'm fine" "I know, that's what you said"

These words will haunt my every thought,
They make communication stop.
I cannot help but sense a lie,
When someone tell me "oh, I'm fine"

Small and Simple

I'm a speck in the spectrum of this wide unknown world.
Just a small, unsure, unknown, unusual girl.

I'm clumsy and awkward and a little insane.
I like painting and tacos and smelling the rain.

I'm no phenomenon, I'm no superstar
But, I believe I can take my dreams far.

It's the simple things that make the world go round.
It's love that helps the lost be found.

One tiny pebble, still ripples the pond
A smile can mean the world to someone.

It's the little kind acts we make everyday
That in the end, make lasting change.

What World's Are Made Of

I'm just one little person in a not so little world.
I want to make a difference, but there's much I've yet to learn.

There are billions of people, all across the earth.
What part do I play in it all? Must I prove my worth?

All these different lives, each a story of their own.
Separate, yet so close. The same, and yet unknown.

The universe is grand, expanding with no end.
It's hard for me to fathom, strange to comprehend.

Even though we may feel small in this infinite expanse,
We can change each other's worlds, we can take a chance.

Take each chance to show your love, for that is the stuff,
That changes world's, and it is what all worlds are made of.

Tumbleweed

People say what they wanna believe.
Talk about what they wanna achieve.
But when things get tough, they turn and leave.
Blowing' in the wind like a tumbleweed.

All my life I've been taught to withstand.
To hold on to my dreams, small or grand.
To lift others, to give them a hand.
But it's easy to be a tumbleweed.

It gets hard when the wind starts blowin'.
Hope looks dim and your dreams start slowin'
You might want to to give up not knowin'.
That it hurts more to be a tumbleweed.

It may be easy to bounce on by.
Think about you, and not even try.
To stop searchin' to stop askin' why.
But you'll never find a happy tumbleweed.

Fireflies

"I guess everyone needs to be reminded that they will not always be a blazing fire to people. Sometimes all we are is a firefly with our light blinking on and off. But we need to remember that even though fireflies are tiny they still stand out against the night. . . . Shine your light no matter how small it might be."  Elder David Hampton

With a few more sticks and a spark,
Fires bring heat and light.
They crackle and pop as smoke goes up,
They could light up any night.

But we don't have to be like fires,
Our lights might be small winks.
Often we are like fireflies
As our lights flicker and blink.

(Chorus) Shine your light out to the world,
You're a special firefly,
God prepares the way for you,
It's your time to shine.

This is our destiny,
As we shine our light.
Blinking on and off always,
We'll light up the night!

(Bridge) Look around.
Other fireflies can be found.
Wait and see.
What our lights, together, will be.
Shine above!
Bringing the world Gods love.
We're His little fireflies,
His light is shining in our eye,
Let's shine out His light!

If you want something to last forever,
Treat it differently
Treasure up and feed your light
And never stop shinning!

(Chorus) Shine your light out to the world,
You're a special firefly,
God prepares the way for you,
It's your time to shine.

What Makes a Mother?

A mother has a caring way,
By the way she acts and the things she'll say.
She loves her children oh so much,
She shows them how with each little touch.

So, what makes a mother?

Her hands are ones that never stop,
They clean and work and sew and shop.
Her hands are tools in the hands of the Lord,
Shes busy and loving and never bored.

Her mind is one that's always thinking,
She often listening, learning, and dreaming.
She thinks for her children and husband too,
Her mind helps her family through and through.

Her smile is one that is warm and kind.
She smiles at the lonely or the weak of mind.
Her smile comforts others and shares God's light.
She smiles at others when they do what is right.

Her actions are ones that serve all around,
Her actions keep her family safe and sound.
She is obedient in everything shes even done,
And she also knows how to have some fun.

Thanks to the mothers who help us live and grow,
Thanks to the mothers who always seem to know,
Thanks to the mothers who love at every every touch.
Thanks to the mothers who we love so much.

In a Mother's Heart

Happy Mothers Day!

In the deep parts of the night
She cradled you to sleep.
She wiped away your tears
Weeping as you weeped.

In the rise of morning sun
She gently guided you.
Loving you despite
All the wrongs you do.

Under a starlit sky
She listened to concerns
Your fears, your hopes and dreams.
She teaches and you learn.
Beneath the stormy clouds
She comforts patiently.
Her love extending through
All of eternity.

She's there through all life's storms.
And all the bright days too.
For in a Mother's heart,
A piece of it is you.

Son Rise

I'm The sun rises after the storm
And lights each tip of grass
The blooming flowers touched with dew
Shine like beads of glass

The garden silent, still, waiting.
The whisper of the wind
Seems to speak of hope and life
Brighter then it's been.

Quietly a woman weeps
For a friend she's lost.
Illuminated by the morning sun
Toward the tomb she walks.

She approaches the memorial
But to her great despair
The tomb is wholly empty
But for linen laying there.

Somebody approaches,
The woman asks him where
They have laid her Lord
Her friend who wasn't there.

The man looks toward the woman
With love and sympathy
Quietly he whispers
He says to her, "Mary."

Such power in a word
Such meaning in one name
"Master!" She replies
For it is He, the same.

She reaches out her hand
"Touch me not," he says,
"I have yet to go unto
My Father in Heaven."

Such radiance in a smile
Such love in just one glance.
The victory o'er the grave was won
Eternity advanced.

Mary, filled with newfound grace
Thanks him with her eyes.
She has witnessed joyfully
The hope of the Son rise.

Change

Why do I worry,
Why do I care,
About things that don't matter,
Like money and hair.

I have so much to offer,
And so much to do,
I shouldn't be thinking
about my clothes or shoes.

People are starving,
Kids are alone,
Their out on the streets
With no where to call home.

It used to be,
That the future was bright,
But now dark shadows
Cover it from my sight.

Where am I going?
Who will I be?
Is it too late,
To find a way to be free?

The time is running out,
There's no where else to go,
We need to open our eyes,
What's the world trying to show?

We're all here together,
In this game of life,
We're all on a team,
To get out of this strife.

So don't worry about,
The things that don't matter,
If we don't start to change,
The world is gonna shatter.

A Pocket Full of Pebbles

As we go through our own lives,
We push through trials and sin.
There is a lot of pain we see,
Upon this world we're in.

We all have have our own bad choices,
Little pebbles that weigh us down.
Which might not seem big on their own,
But together they bring a frown.

With pockets full of pebbles,
We paint smiles on our faces,
To show we have it in control,
In our schools and our work places.

The truth is we're crying in despair,
Looking for a gleam of light.
For a way to erase our heavy load,
And conquer our failing fight.

Where can we find some solitude
From our crazy lives around?
Where can we find a moment of peace?
To escape from all this sound?

God has prepared a way for us,
To repent and to lighten our load,
Christ's atonement lights the way,
Just follow the path back home.

He's waiting for us with open arms,
We just have to choose His way,
We are agents unto our own self's,
By what we do and say.

So choose the right, start right now,
We can change today.
Let go of the pebbles weighing you down,
Choose the better way.

The park in spring time

Here is a poem I wrote when I took the kids to the park today:

In the fresh, cool breeze,
And the heat of the day,
The park is alive,
As little ones play.

Moms sit and talk,
In twos and in threes,
Lunches in sacks,
And babies on knees.

The grass is so green,
With the kids on the fields,
Throwing a frisbee,
And rolling down hills.

The teens are in groups,
Throwing 'round balls,
Grandma runs to help,
When a little one falls.

The bright colored leaves,
Bring the perfect shade,
Kids slide down slides,
Though they're kinda afraid.

Cute little ones,
Are learning to walk,
The boys playing sports,
Don't have that much talk.

Everyone's helping
This park come alive,
There's so much to do,
Now that it is spring time!

Joy

Joy comes from the simple things,
That we find from day to day,
Joy comes from acts of kindness,
Of things we do or say.

Joy comes from looking at what's ahead,
With courage and positivity,
Joy comes from finding your mission,
And knowing who you're meant to be.

Joy comes from loving those around you,
And seeing the goodness in them.
Seeing people as children of God,
And spiritual siblings and friends.

Joy comes from eternal families,
Who are there to strengthen each other,
To hold up each other up when were down,
Each sister and each brother

Joy comes from listening to The Lord,
He brightens the part ahead,
Joy comes from following our Savior,
And doing what He says.

Joy comes from leading a life of faith,
And trusting The Lord above,
When we remove distractions,
Then we can feel His love.

Dangerous Mirror

See this also @ http://victoryofthemind.blogspot.com/?m=1

The mirror was distorted.
It warped the real view.
It made her wide, feel gross inside.
And everything untrue.

Every day she looked at it
And saw inside the mirror
One big mistake, something fake.
Reflecting back her tears.

Everytime she saw herself
Inside the dangerous mirror
She saw only the evil things
That intensified her fear.

Stupid, ugly, sad, unloved.
The mirror seemed to scream.
Hopeless, worthless, always less.
Nightmares haunted dreams.

The mirror distorted her whole being.
But she kept looking on.
Wondering what else to do
To stop being so wrong.

One day she decided that,
Instead of looking out,
She wanted to look inside and
Take a braver route.

So instead of looking at the mirror.
She looked inside her heart
And saw a girl trying so hard
To be good, be apart.

A girl who wanted laughter, love,
To just do what was right.
A girl who failed, but who still sailed
The seas of searching light.

What if I said that the old mirror
That distortes the view
Was placed inside your very eyes
And warped your sight of you.

Putting aside that horrid thing,
And looking with cleared eyes
Might help you see, how beautifully
You're doing with your lives.
