Ouch!

Throw a ball, dodge and then,
Run, trip, and do it again!
Playing games, so much fun,
Until horrible disaster's come.

My friend looked down at her leg,
"Oh no! Oh my! What's this?" she said
A deep bloody gash was there,
And yet she had not any fear!

Her dad came over to look at it,
"Stitches" he said doubt no bit,
Some agreed some argued,
And my friend quietly refused,

But in the end off we flew,
To get her stitched up maybe with glue,
We tried to find the emergency room,
It took us a while, but then we zoomed,

Right up to it she hobbled out of the car,
We hurried in to a door quite far,
But we made it and entered into a room,
But it was as empty as a tomb!

Finally someone came to help us out,
We went into room 14,
No, no, no. Then here's the remote,
It made her feel like a queen.

The nurse came in and looked,
At the wound, so quite deep,
He got it ready. Took the bandage off,
Pushed some buttons with a beep!

Then with a needle the doctor came in,
Then a hearty hand shake and a grin
And injected the needle many a time,
We flinched and flinched her mom and I,

But my friend barley noticed it,
She definitely didn't make a fit,
As he hooked and sewed and tied some knots,
It didn't hurt after all those shots!

After that we were all done,
They wiped it off the cut all gone,
Instead she looked like Frankenstein,
(not really though) Just a line,

Put on our shoes then out the door,
Now we felt like we could soar,
Home for smores and a drink,
That was it, I bet, I think.

Going Crazy.

This last week we went to Shakespeare showdown and Vanguards outdoor adventure. We had so much fun but by the end of the week we were going stark mad!!

I am slowly going crazy,
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, switch!
Crazy going, slowly am I,
6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, switch!

A week we had full of fun,
Of missionaries and burns from the sun,
Of tired girls, and counselor time,
Good enough for a rhyme.

We danced one night from 7 'till 10,
The next night we wanted to do it again!
We had so much fun with our skits,
Of Shakespeare and banana splits!

Then we played curses and a guest speaker,
Hiking after putting on a sneaker.
We did a cope course and timed it too,
Then off a zip-line we all flew.

Giggling in the night,
Relating life to our flashlight's
Singing about PB&J
Everything is just okay.

But then! We all are going crazy!
What oh what shall we do?
We are counting up to six,
And singing backwards too!!

We can walk up and down,
Eating mayo around the town,
Throwing sandwiches at subway guys,
Carrying backpacks and then they fly.

Another guest speaker, trip over a rock,
A teeny tiny little white dot.
Cold, cold, cold. Hot, hot, hot.
New sunburns never stop!!

Late every night, early everyday,
Backwards is every one's name,
Rachel-Spencer Isaiah-Grace,
Putting different names to different face,

Hiking up and down the trails,
Little deer with little tails,
Making everyone nervous,
Then chopping wood while doing service.

Singing a lot of camp songs,
All the day and while long,
Many plays, and silence sweet,
Smiling to everyone we meet.

For we have the best group of all!
Vanguard youth, standing tall,
V I Pineapples!! Best fruit of all,
Burn it up small, small, small.

Comedy of errors,
Seeing moose and bears,
Just kidding! But please be happy,
Pineapples make every other fruit crappy.

Gypsy, nun and nunja,
Signing orange shirts,
Little fun squishes,
Squirting in the dirt.

POP! Say that in an accent,
Those who swear must repent.
And everyone was going crazy,
Doing chores so we don't get lazy.

Do you like green pineapples?
Do you like yellow pineapples?
Do you like brown pineapples?
Do you like too ripe and prickly?
Even if it is squishy and drippy?

Shakespeare showdown was so much fun!
From acting workshops I learned a ton!
Impromptu and make-up class,
Were late! Hurry! Running fast!

The week felt like a day.. eek!
But each day felt like a long long week
After each exhausting day,
We were ready to hit the hay!

The boys challenged us to an all nighter,
But after devotional at the camp fire,
We were so sleepy our eyes just shut,
We were zonked, we just have bad luck!

Chores full of silly fun,
Cabin craziness for everyone,
Walking up and up and up,
VIP! Ya, yes, yup!

Cornfuzling stuff Shakespeare did create,
But shed many tears as the air-mattress deflate,
What a week we had full of amazing fun,
But now showdown and adventure are all done.

As this news sunk in deep,
We cleaned the cabin and wanted to weep.
This news was so, so sad.
After a week of fun, that's bad.

"I miss you already" and "I'm going to cry"
We all felt that we somehow might die.
How sad it was that we must go,
We all felt down after this show.

But on the way home there was still fun,
And our friendships have just begun!
We felt the spirit our testimonies have grown,
Our examples we have shown.

I can't wait for next year,
At showdown,
From now on a smile,
Instead of a frown :D

Church Time

At church this week a question popped into my head "why do we go to church every week?" It had a nice ring to it so I made it into a poem

Why do we go to church every week?
To learn of Christ and the sacrement eat?
To sing and to teach and to learn about truth,
As children and familys. Adult and youth.

To plan service projects to show that we care,
To meet in the church house & worship there.
To meet new comers to read and to pray
To keep this day holy what we do on Sunday.

What don't we do on this day so clean?
Shop and work and un-reverent things,
We stay clean and holy and think of Christ all day,
To recive revelation to heed what Christ says,

To line-up our will with Christ's will,
To be thankful and on our faith build,
We don't go to hang-out with friends,
Or to preform.. but endure to the end!!

Build up our testimony and prepare for the week,
To read our scriptures and answers to seek!
Yes this is why we go every week!
To become like Christ humble and meek.

Study, Share, Pondering.
Scripture reading, quietly,
Understand and write down notes,
Music calming, faith and hope.

Truth, seek ponder & pray,
Holiness upon this day,
Even if outside its gray
The sun is shining hooray!

I'm glad to be a Latter Day Saint!
We know the truth after all,
We love each other all the same
Shining. Standing tall.

Rain Oh, Rain-bow!

Today we had a great day at the Bates house when it started to rain and the a beautiful rainbow came out!

First all day it is HOT HOT HOT!
Then all of a sudden it's NOT NOT NOT!
When we drag our-self's all over the stage,
And beat upon Dromio with rage!

But then the park and service,
We walk home the sun setting nigh,
We say Now! Now will it rain?
With all these clouds in the sky?

Boom! Thunder!
Hooray we shout,
It will rain after all!
Of course no doubt!

Slowly slowly it starts to trickle,
Down comes the rain,
Then faster and faster until we all,
Are rolling around insane!

Then we smile at each other,
Each sister and brother,
It's raining the best day of my life
Not a single worry, care, or strife!

Hurrying to save an animal and other random stuff,
We laugh and run and trip, onto the ground so ruff
Then hurry hurry we quickly run back onto the lawn,
Then in awe a rainbow there, no rain it all has gone,

Instead there stands
A rainbow grand,
It's beauty what
 a splendor and....

It's all for us a gift from God
 How very blessed we are,
He loves us all so very much
Were special much by far!

Colorful, brilliant, bright!
Breathtaking! Such delight!
Beautiful, magical, good!
Over us like a hood.

All the way across the sky,
Like a half moon in the night,
But in the sunshine bright,
Oh, so full of light!

Heaven's highway it seems.
Like something in a dream...
To slide on it would be
So, fine, so fun, so free!

The colors weave together,
So well with each other.
So perfect, pretty, peaceful
So wonderful and wishful!

It's like the word wonder
In a ribbon of color!

We stand there in awe!
what a sight to have saw!
A magnificent glorious,
Rainbow!

The Best Creation of All!

Yesterday we had a fun time at the park together and we found these poofy trees the snickerdoodle loves so much! We took some pictures and I had to share!!

Marshmallow, pop corn, cotton balls,
Slowly sweetly, each petal falls,
Slowly gliding to the ground.
Falling all, us around.
Poof poof poofy! I love these awesome trees!
Poof poof poofy! Floating in the breeze,
The only problem with them is your allergies!
In that case all they do is make you sneeze and sneeze!
 There poof poof poofy!
I want to squeeze them tight.
Poof poof poofy!
They are poofy pretty and white!
With all these trees around me am I in Heaven?
All of these trees all five, six or seven,
Have I fallin' into a cloud, or in something silky smooth,
Just the way the petals fall gently carefully move.
On a beautiful day such beautiful trees,
With no care in the world we just do as we please,
What a beautiful moment to share together,
With a warm day, what perfect wether!
Petals falling all around us,
A river flowing through,
A hidden trail and after all,
A perfect day, I'm with you!

To the Mom's

A happy, happy day to you,
So much for us you all do,
And so this day devoted to,
Our amazing mothers!

You cook and you clean,
You sew and you sing,
Your my beautiful queen,
Our amazing mothers!

Acting and Home school,
Instead of toys it's tools,
You even give us helpful rules,
Our amazing mothers!

I know we don't appreciate you enough.
How can we complain about OUR life being tough?
I hope that you know we love you so much,
Our amazing mothers.

This is the end of my short little poem,
On this day, your mothers get to know 'em
Your amazing examples to us others,
I love you all, Our amazing Mothers!

Fighting as Part for an Army

We are part of an army, others have trust in us
Were needed to fight for freedom, there is no time to fuss,
Are you coming to join the army? Or are you going to run away,
Let's join together in army, lets go, now, today!

Do we know what we fight for? Do we know what is right?
What are we doing? Wasting time each night,
Fight for freedom fight for truth,
Fight for liberty, Vanguard Youth!

Are we ready to begin? And not look back again?
Hold up the banner! Lets go and win!
No one can defeat us it's not possible without a fight,
The Lord Christ and the spirit are with us, we don't need to think twice,

We know where the world is going,
We know that Satan's whirlwinds are blowing,
We know what weapons we have with to fight,
The scriptures and Faith, stand for the right!

It probably won't get better... As we try to win the war
As the world gets more wicked it will get harder to with righteousness soar,
No one knows when it will happen but the second coming is coming steady,
And so as latter-day-saints we must hurry and be getting ready!

We can stand up for our standards,
We can stand up for the truth,
We can stand up for one another,
Together as Vanguard youth!

As the youth of Zion,
Preparing as best we can,
Looking towards the light of God,
And following his plan,

With everyone together,
We can do whats right,
With good friends with our standards,
Following Christ's gospels light.

How many ways we are blessed,
Through repentance we must confess,
Our sins so that one day,
We will live with him again,

Life is not perfect and neither are we,
But through Christs example can't you see,
We can all together be,
One big happy family!

And now that this poem is through,
Here is what we can do,
Repent, pray and stay clean,
So we can be with Him through eternity!
